The Origins of Wulong Tea

September 26th, 2007

Wulong tea is, in fact, not a true tea at all because it does not in reality come from the leaves of the camellia sinensis, that is the one true tea tree. Rather, it is a tea-type item more similar to that of an herbal tea. Wulong tea derives from the most tropic areas of Fujian and Taiwan.

Similar to other tea-type trees and plants, its origin matures better in this kind of realm and those which are high up in elevation. In more recent years particularly, Wulong tea has also been cultivated in other areas away from Fujian and Taiwan, only these areas of growth have to still have a corresponding climate and elevation in order that end up being fruitful for the development of the tea.

Processing Wulong Tea

Some like Wulong tea to a combination of green tea and black tea. Wulong tea features the fresh, savory flavor of a green tea however it also contains the aromatic tendencies of black tea.
